Pope Leo visits Virgin Mary shrine in first trip outside Vatican

Newly elected Pope Leo XIV made his first trip outside the Vatican on Saturday, visiting the Virgin Mary shrine in Genazzano, east of Rome. He arrived unannounced in a car and was greeted by cheering crowds. According to Vatican statement, the Pope told people at the shrine he came to pray for guidance in the early days of his papacy.
