Pope Leo warns of AI risks, says 'Some weapons beyond human reach'

Pope Leo XIV urged governments to "slow down" and regulate AI systems, warning that they prioritise conflict and risk leading us down a path of unending war. He added that some autonomous weapons systems have advanced "beyond any human reach to govern them". He further urged need for "political involvement that's capable of slowing things down when everything is accelerating."
