Pope Leo XIV becomes 1st pope in history to vote in US elections
Pope Leo XIV became the first known sitting pontiff in the Catholic Church's history to vote in a political election after he submitted a mail-in ballot for US midterms, the Vatican said. "[He] expresses his belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes," his office said. The Chicago-born pope holds US and Peruvian citizenship.
