Pope meets Canada PM, apologises to Indigenous people for school abuse

Pope Francis met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Citadelle de Quebec in Quebec city on Wednesday. Pope Francis apologised for the role of Catholic Church in carrying out abuse of indigenous children at residential schools. Indigenous children were separated from their families, forcibly taken to residential schools, which operated between 1870 and 1996, where they were abused.
