Pope Francis on Thursday washed and kissed the feet of Muslim, Orthodox, Hindu and Catholic refugees at Castelnuovo di Porto, outside Rome, as part of an Easter ritual. This gesture of service is a re-enactment of Jesus washing the feet of his apostles before he was crucified. Pope Francis had recently amended the rules to choose women for the ritual.
