Praggnanandhaa defeats his mentor Viswanathan Anand in chess

Mentee R Praggnanandhaa defeated his mentor Viswanathan Anand 2-1 in the quarter-final of the WR Chess Masters Cup 2024 in London on Tuesday. It was the first time since 2018 that 19-year-old Praggnanandhaa and 54-year-old Viswanathan Anand played over the board. Both classical games ended in draws, however, Praggnanandhaa triumphed in the Armageddon tiebreak, defeating his childhood idol.
