Prashant Kishor takes oath as Bankipur MLA, becomes 1st legislator from Jan Suraaj party

Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor took oath as Bankipur MLA in the presence of Speaker Prem Kumar on Monday, becoming the first legislator from the Jan Suraaj party in the Bihar Assembly. Kishor defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Neeraj Kumar by a margin of 19,324 votes. The bypoll was necessitated after BJP president Nitin Nabin vacated the seat.
