Premchand 1st Hindi author to introduce realism in writings

Munshi Premchand, who was born on July 31, 1880, was the first Hindi author to introduce realism in his writings. Premchand, whose real name was Dhanpat Rai, wrote nearly 300 stories and novels in Hindi and Urdu, which include Godan, Maidan-e-Amal, Bay-wah, Chaugaan, among others. He was also a social reformer and thinker, who advocated equal opportunities for all.
