The Appointments Committee has approved veteran physicist Professor Umesh V Waghmare as the new Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Veteran Physicist from JNCASR succeeds Prof. Abhay Karandikar, who moved to Niti Aayog, and Dr Rajesh Gokhale, who briefly held the position on an additional interim charge.
