Pune civic body to purchase asphalt directly from companies

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to buy asphalt directly from the manufacturing companies. This decision was taken after allegations of fraud in asphalt purchases through a contractor. Municipal commissioner Rajendra Bhosale directed the road department to purchase directly from the manufacturer. The civic body requires almost 3,000 tonnes of asphalt every year.
