Pune police checks 2,389 criminals on record ahead of I-Day; 40 held

Pune police checked 2,389 people with criminal backgrounds in an operation carried out ahead of Independence Day. The police arrested over 40 people for crimes like possession of a pistol, sharp weapons, drugs and for allegedly preparing for an armed robbery in the operation. Searches were also conducted by police at multiple locations, including bus stops and over 400 hotels.
