Pune sees a sharp rise in dog bites, with 78,000 cases in 3 years

Pune has recorded 78,421 dog-bite incidents in the last three years, according to data from the Pune Municipal Corporation. Cases rose from 21,526 in 2023 to 30,790 in 2025, with nearly 80-85 incidents reported daily. Residents say stray dog attacks are increasing across several areas, raising safety concerns for children and senior citizens.
