Pune university to be renamed after Savitribai Phule

The Maharashtra cabinet Monday cleared the higher and technical education department's proposal of renaming University of Pune (UoP) as Savitribai Phule Pune University. However, the name change may still take some time as the cabinet decision was not clear on whether the government will bring in an ordinance or will table a bill in the state legislature.
