Farmers using tactics similar to Kalam's to evade satellite detection of farm fires

Farmers in Punjab and Haryana are allegedly timing stubble burning to evade satellite detection, exploiting gaps between satellite passes. Similar tactics were used during 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests under scientist and ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam. Environmental organisation iFOREST has launched Fire Watch, combining multiple satellite systems to track farm fires, their timing and the area burnt.
