The Punjab state government on Tuesday banned the sale of loose cigarettes and loose tobacco in the state, becoming the 1st to do so, claiming that they violated the Section 7 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). The section prohibits the sale of cigarettes or tobacco products if the product doesn't include the pictorial warning on it.
