Punjab appoints a regular DGP after over 4 yrs amid HC's Oct 13 deadline

The Punjab government has appointed Gaurav Yadav as the state's regular Director General of Police (DGP) after more than four years of an additional-charge arrangement. This comes after the Punjab and Haryana High Court set October 13 as the deadline for the appointment. The delay followed AAP's proposal for a seven-member panel instead of the UPSC-prescribed procedure.
