Punjab Assembly allows serving liquor at highway hotels

The Punjab Assembly on Friday passed an amendment to allow serving liquor at restaurants and hotels along highways, bypassing the Supreme Court's ban on liquor sale within 500 metres of highways. However, it did not allow retail liquor sale along the highways. Earlier, Punjab had reclassified several roads to avoid the Supreme Court's ban.
