Punjab Assembly passes Bill capping private school fee hike at 5%

The Punjab Assembly passed the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2026, capping annual fee hikes by private schools at 5%. CM Bhagwant Mann said the move would curb the commercialisation of education, and benefit 32 lakh students in Punjab. The Bill also paves the way for setting up three digital universities in Punjab.
