Punjab bank to pay man ₹82,495 after 11 'unauthorised' UPI transactions drain account
A Punjab consumer commission has upheld an order directing a bank to refund ₹82,495, excluding interest, to a man whose savings account was hit by 11 unauthorised UPI transactions in 2019. The transactions, made on June 4 and 5, resulted in withdrawals totalling ₹72,495. The bank argued that payments were validated using customer's UPI PIN or MPIN, denying service deficiency.
