Hundreds of restaurants and eateries in Punjab have allegedly evaded over ₹100 crore in GST, The Tribune reported, citing state government officials. The outlets reportedly used the 'PetPooja' software to suppress sales by deleting cash bills, underpaying GST for nearly five years. The evasion is linked to an alleged ₹70,000-crore nationwide sales suppression by restaurants.
