Punjab's Batala industry reels as used machinery floods market

Hundreds of factories in Batala are facing industrial distress as traders import second-hand machinery from Europe and China and sell it at cheaper rates than locally manufactured equipment. Parmjit Gill, Batala Industrial Estate Factories Association president said, "These traders advertise online. Cost-conscious factory owners buy the machines, not realising they will lose in the long run."
