Punjab village to give ₹21000 reward for no alcohol, DJ at wedding

A village panchayat in Punjab's Bathinda announced a ₹21,000 cash incentive to families to not serve alcohol or play DJs at weddings. "We want to encourage people not to indulge in wasteful expenditure during weddings," Ballo village Sarpanch Amarjit Kaur said. Loud music disrupts the studies of students and quarrels erupt at events where alcohol is served, Kaur further said.
