Putin announces annexation of Ukrainian regions, says 'Russia has 4 new regions'
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday formally announced that the country has "four new regions" in a speech at Krelim. Russia annexed the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia after referendums were held there amidst the war. Ukraine denounced the referendums as 'coercive' after Russian forces partially seized the regions during the seven-month conflict.
