Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly fired 1.1 lakh government officials of the Ministry of Interior as part of his austerity measures. Putin had signed a decree last week which limited the number of employees in the Ministry, expected to decrease the total workforce by 10%. The IMF estimates the Russian economy shrunk 2.2% in the first quarter of 2015-16.
