Putin hosts ASEAN leaders, seeks deeper ties with Southeast Asia

Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted ASEAN leaders at an inaugural Russia-ASEAN summit in Kazan. During the two-day meeting, Russia seeks to expand its "strategic partnership" with Southeast Asian nations. "Relations between Moscow and the Southeast Asian bloc are an important stabilising factor in the Asia-Pacific region amid geopolitical turbulence," Putin said at the summit.
