Putin replaces Russia's defence minister Shoigu with Belousov amid war

Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed civilian economist Andrei Belousov to replace Sergei Shoigu as defence minister. Putin wants Shoigu, in charge of defence since 2012 and his long-standing friend and ally, to become the secretary of Russia's Security Council and also have responsibilities for the military-industrial complex. Putin's decision comes amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
