PV Narasimha Rao became India's PM 25 years ago

Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao was sworn in as India's Prime Minister on June 21, 1991. Rao was the first south Indian to hold the office and also the first person outside the Nehru-Gandhi family from the Indian National Congress to finish his five-year term as the PM. His cabinet included first ever non-political economist, Manmohan Singh, as the Finance Minister.
