Rabindranath Tagore was 1st Indian to win Nobel Prize
Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian to win a Nobel Prize, when he received the award for Literature in 1913. Popularly called 'Gurudev', the writer won the award for his "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse". The writer, most famous for composing India's national anthem, passed away 75 years ago on August 7, 1941.
