Arun Jaitley was 1st FM to present merged Union, Railways Budget

The Railway Budget was merged with Union Budget for the first time in 2017. Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented first combined Budget, breaking 92-year-long practice of presenting Railway Budget few days prior to Union Budget. The Railways Ministry in 2016 said the decision was based on the recommendations of a committee headed by NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy.
