Railways told to pay 10 times the ticket price after passengers were denied confirmed seats

Bhojpur Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed the Railways to pay compensation to 4 passengers for failing to provide them confirmed reserved berths. They found their confirmed berths were reportedly occupied by railway staff. The bench told Railways to refund booking amount of ₹1,876.80 along with 8% annual interest and pay ₹20,000 compensation and ₹15,000 towards litigation costs.
