Swami Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Mission on May 1, 1897. As a philanthropic organisation, the mission conducts extensive work in health care, disaster relief, rural management and has established many elementary and higher education institutes. Currently, Swami Atmasthananda serves as the fifteenth president of the mission, which is headquartered at Belur Math, West Bengal.
