Ranchi court acquits accused after police says rats ate 200kg marijuana in custody

A Ranchi court acquitted the prime accused in a narcotics case after police submitted that 200kg of seized marijuana, valued at ₹1 crore, had been destroyed by rats in police custody. A station diary entry from 2024 recorded the contraband had been eaten by rats. "With no material evidence left...the benefit of doubt must go to accused," the court ruled.
