Rare auroras seen worldwide as Earth hit by largest solar storm in over 20 yrs

Earth recorded its largest and most powerful solar storm in over 20 years on Tuesday night. The storm triggered rare aurora displays across several countries and caused minor signal and satellite disruptions. Scientists said it began with a coronal mass ejection, which expelled billions of tonnes of solar material travelling at hundreds of kilometres per second with strong magnetic fields.
