A rare Malayan tapir has been born at a zoo in southern Germany with a curator at Nuremberg Zoo saying the birth went "wonderfully well". The yet-to-be-named female calf was on her feet "within seconds," the curator said. Notably, the Malayan tapir (Tapirus indicus) is currently classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
