Rats are thought to outnumber residents in Paris, with pest control experts claiming that there are over 4 million rats in the city - almost two rats for each of the 2.3 million Parisians. This has lead the Paris city hall to temporarily close nine parks, including where Eiffel Tower is situated, for "de-ratting" programmes.
