RBI extends deadline to exchange pre-2005 notes

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday extended the date for the public to exchange their pre-2005 banknotes to 31st December, from 30th June. The notes can be exchanged from any nearest bank for their full value. Explaining the move, RBI clarified that the banknotes printed prior to 2005 have fewer security features compared with banknotes printed after 2005.
