RBI may not allow banks to invest in commodity derivatives: SEBI

RBI and insurance regulators are not inclined to allow banks and insurance companies to invest in commodity derivatives, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said. Pension fund regulatory authority is also looking into allowing pension funds to invest in commodity derivatives, Pandey added. SEBI had earlier said it would engage with the government to enable banks to trade commodities.
