RBI opens special dollar window for state-run oil firms to support rupee
The RBI has announced a special window, effective October 12, to meet the daily dollar requirements of Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum. The central bank will sell dollars to the three state-run oil companies through designated banks. The move aims to prevent them from buying dollars in the spot market, which puts pressure on the rupee.
