RBI to resume urban cooperative bank licenses, revise rural bank norms

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced measures to strengthen the cooperative banking sector. The central bank will issue draft guidelines to resume licensing of urban cooperative banks and revise the credit monitoring framework for rural cooperative banks. It also plans to standardise lending rate rules across all regulated entities to improve transparency and consumer protection.
