RBI workforce falls 2.2% in 2025, first decline in six years

The Reserve Bank of India's workforce shrank for the first time in six years in 2025, according to its annual report. Employee strength fell 2.2% year-on-year to 13,220 as of December 31, 2025, from 13,520 a year earlier. Despite the decline in staff, employee expenses rose at a double-digit rate, driven by higher pension-related costs.
