Record ₹30.88 lakh crore cash with public 6 years after demonetisation

The currency with the public for the fortnight that ended October 21, 2022, stood at a record high of ₹30.88 lakh crore. The figure is up 72% from the ₹17.97 lakh crore cash with the public on November 4, 2016. The latest figure comes six years after the government announced demonetisation in which old ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes were withdrawn.
