Reports suggest that Kabul may run out of water by 2030

By 2030, Afghanistan's capital, Kabul will run dry, meaning there will be no water for city's estimated seven million residents, as per a Mercy Corps report. Dr Anchita Borthakur, Researcher at Chintan Research Foundation, says, "More than 80% of groundwater in Kabul has been contaminated and is unfit for drinking, leading to cultivation of opium in place of food crops."
