Rescued gharial released into Punjab's Beas River Reserve

An adult gharial, rescued from Rajasthan's Indira Gandhi Canal in July, was released into Punjab's Beas River Conservation Reserve on October 24 after three months of rehabilitation at Chhatbir Zoo. The release is part of Punjab's ongoing gharial conservation programme, supported by WWF-India, which has documented 37 gharials across 22 Beas locations in 2025.
