Research identifies possible on-off switch for plant growth

New research from the University of California Riverside has identified a protein that controls plant growth. Researchers found the protein, IRK, in the root cells of a plant related to mustard. The research demonstrated that turning off the gene that produces IRK causes an increase in the number of times the plant's root cells divide.
