Researchers develop AI that can forecast weather in mins on PC

Cambridge University's researchers have developed Aardvark Weather, an AI weather prediction system that promises to deliver faster forecasts in minutes on desktop computers. It uses less computing power than current AI and physics-based forecasting systems. Traditional weather forecasts are generated through complex stages but Aardvark replaces this with a single and simple large language model.
