Restaurants found hiding sales of ₹70,000 cr by Income Tax Dept
An investigation by the Income Tax Department's Hyderabad unit has found that several restaurants across India underreported sales of ₹70,000 crore since 2019-20. The department assessed about 60 terabytes of transactional data from a billing software that is used by nearly 1.77 lakh restaurants. One pattern that reportedly emerged during the probe was the selective deletion of cash invoices.
