Retired employee loses ₹16.87 lakh in fake life certificate scam

A 61-year-old retired government employee from Greater Noida lost ₹16.87 lakh after clicking a fraudulent Facebook ad mimicking a nationalised bank's life certificate submission portal. Cybercriminals hacked his phone via a malicious file, siphoning funds across multiple accounts. A case under BNS and IT Act was registered at the Cybercrime Branch on Thursday.
