Rice prices hit ₹4,000/50 kg, LPG hits ₹5,000/cylinder amid blockade in Manipur: Report
An economic blockade imposed in Manipur's Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi district caused a shortage of essential commodities, The Hindu reported, citing MLA Haokholet Kipgen. Prices of a 50-kg bag of rice jumped from ₹1,400-1,700 to ₹4,000, while LPG cylinders are available for ₹5,000 on the black market, he claimed. Civil society group's chief Thangminlen Kipgen claimed petrol now costs ₹250-280/litre.
