Risk of catastrophic asteroid impact real: White House

A recently released White House document has stressed that risks of catastrophic impacts of Near-Earth Objects (NEOs), defined as asteroids or comets that come near Earth's orbit, are real. Titled 'National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy', the document has a detailed plan to prepare for such events. Enhancing NEO detection and developing NEO deflection methods are among the listed goals.
