Ritu Khanduri becomes first female Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly

BJP MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan has become the first woman Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in the state's 21-year-history. Ritu, who is the daughter of former state Chief Minister BC Khanduri, was elected unopposed. Ritu will be the fifth speaker of the state Assembly and will succeed BJP MLA Premchand Aggarwal.
